We like all the meanings of the word JARANA. They all lead us to the idea of enjoyin and celebrating.That is the essence of Jarana Docs and the stories we want to tell.
We are an audiovisual production company that seeks to place the camera in front of people who inspire, who stir, who denounce, who agitate, who excite.
And behind that camera is me, Luis Calero, creator of Jarana Docs.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND…
For the last 20 years I have worked as a journalist in the audiovisual sector. I have been a reporter, scriptwriter, editor and director of documentaries, both for television and the big screen.
- Direction “The Next Wave” (Filmin)
- Screenwriter and coordinator of the documentary “Homeland’s night” (Mediaset), about ETA and the Basque conflict
- Responsible for the documentary “Central Mediterranean” (TVE), about the rescue of refugees in the waters of the Mediterranean.
- Screenwriter and coordinator of the documentary series “Heroes of the Future” for the International Olympic Channel.
- Screenwriter and reporter for programs such a ‘Spanish people around the world’, ‘Travellers Four’ or ‘Más Vale Tarde’, from La Sexta, where I currently work.
- Collaborator of the travel program ‘Nomads’, on Radio Nacional de España.
My work as a reporter on travel programs has allowed me to record in more than 90 countries, which has led me to learn about different realities and perspectives. And I keep looking for them. My objective and that of Jarana Docs can be summarized in the inspiring phrase of the Chilean director Patricio Guzmán, genius and master of documentary:
“Discovering the molecules, the dramatic atoms that exist in life. Learn to see. Learn to listen. Film the movement. Film the time. Film on a human scale.”
